It is the nature of boats to journey. They are purposeful, but also take us back to nature, and in doing so have a spiritual kind of quality.
I do believe there is something incredibly special about building a sailboat and voyaging in her, the same way that civilisations have done for centuries. I like to think that like our own lives, the passage of a small boat will at times be tough, but build her well and she will carry you safely and hold you above the chaos. With this project I wish to get up-close and personal with the ocean, to discover what message nature has for me; and where will this take me? Spain? Transatlantic and beyond? We will see.
I will name my boat 'El Camino' because I am inspired by those that have journeyed before me, and particularly those who have undertaken a pilgrimage of faith. And on my journey I will try to tread lightly on our planet, and cause as little damage as possible.

Before ocean racing, I will take my little boat on a voyage which will form part of a special personal journey.
I was introduced toElCamino de Santiagoby my friends in Galicia. They told me stories of the Apostle of St. James, and the flocks of people that undertake the pilgrimage every year. For me everything about Galicia is beautiful, and on many occasions I have stood in awe at the magnificent Cathedral in Santiago. And so, I will follow the footsteps of the pilgrims that took the English sea route. A journey that will take me accross Biscay to A Coruña Spain, and from there I will trek to Santiago... and from there to the edge of the world at Cape Finisterre.
I have the plans, I have some questions, I have some doubts, but most importantly I have the chance of building a seaworthy little yacht. The builders Mini!
